Throughout a woman’s lifetime, an obstetrician-gynecologist (OB-GYN) is there to support her during the various stages of her health journey. From birth control, pregnancy and childbirth through menopause, an OB-GYN provides a wide range of services for women of all ages.
The Eastern Kentucky Advanced Women’s Care Center at Pikeville Medical Center (PMC) offers a team of seven dedicated and highly trained physicians who specialize in women’s health and issues that can affect the female body.
PMC has the largest on-call group of OB-GYN physicians in the region and is the only hospital in Eastern Kentucky to offer a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Pikeville Medical Center offers a 16-bed Level II Advanced NICU, which can treat babies born as early as 28 weeks. Access to a NICU is an important feature for expecting parents to consider but is an often-overlooked feature when choosing a hospital for their delivery experience.
“We are the only facility within this region with access to a NICU immediately,” said PMC Obstetrician-Gynecologist Tiffany Thompson, DO. “When you need it, we are able to call, and they appear within seconds. That’s the delivery experience you want, and that’s what we provide at Pikeville Medical Center.”
The Eastern Kentucky Advanced Women’s Care Center at PMC is a physician-led practice that has the capability to deliver and care for babies, manage high-risk pregnancies and perform surgeries, some robot-assisted.
