Pikeville Medical Center (PMC) Heart and Vascular Institute has received official notification from the American College of Cardiology (ACC) announcing their most recent chest pain accreditation.

A team of surveyors from the ACC contacted the hospital to conduct a thorough review of the chest pain practices performed at PMC.

Receiving this accreditation means that the PMC staff has successfully demonstrated their compliance in the chest pain program. Evidence-based, clinical practice guidelines help hospitals around the country gauge their performance and set goals.

PMC Cardiac Accreditation, Certification Outcomes, Coumadin, Congestive Heart Failure, Coordinator, Jamessa Scott, APRN said, “Having been awarded Chest Pain with PCI accreditation by the American College of Cardiology, our patients can have the utmost confidence that we will provide them the best care possible.”

PMC’s Heart and Vascular Institute provides comprehensive cardiovascular services to the region.

“Obtaining this accreditation was a team approach, not just within the hospital, but with the local EMS,” said Scott. “Because of this team effort, the community can be confident they are getting the highest quality heart care from their home to the hospital.”

The department consists of six cardiologists, two interventional cardiologists, two cardiac electrophysiologists, three cardiothoracic surgeons and two vascular and endovascular surgeons.

Heart care at PMC is growing at an amazing pace.

As an organization, PMC has been strategically investing in cardiac care. In 2018 the hospital opened three state-of-the-art cath labs, some of the most spectacular on the market.

Construction is well under way for the new heart and vascular institute. This USDA project comes with a price tag of 30 million dollars and is slated for competition in August, 2020.
