With the broadening of neurology services for brain and nervous system disorders, Pikeville Medical Center (PMC) is providing expanded care through Specialists On Call (SOC), the largest provider of telemedicine services and technology to hospitals in the United States. Telemedicine allows our local physicians to collaborate with other board-certified specialists using videoconferencing, evidence-based practice guidelines, and image management. This leads to the best outcomes possible for the patient and it is all provided right here at home. The program further improves the patient experience through quicker access to neurology specialists.
PMC has partnered with SOC to offer teleneurology services in the emergency department and on the inpatient stroke floor. SOC provides emergency telemedicine consultation services and the teleneurology aspect brings efficient, high-quality care and allows timely decisions to be made for the stroke patient. This company provides teleneurology services for stroke and various other neurologic emergencies and supplies PMC with immediate, ongoing support to onsite physicians and nursing staff.
“PMC strives to offer better stroke care for the region,” said PMC Neurologist Naveed Ahmed, MD. “As Medical Director of PMC’s Primary Stroke Program since its inception, I will continue to support this hospital and community to take care of our patients in the best possible manner.” For more information about Neurology services at PMC, visit www.pikevillehospital.org/services/neurology or call 606-430-3500.
