Dale Kimbler of Dana struggled with obesity, high blood pressure, sleep apnea and back pain. His health issues were a constant reminder he was not living the life he wanted.
“I had no energy to do anything. My blood pressure was dangerously high. I started to fear for my health,” said Kimbler.
Kimbler recalls having several failed diet attempts.
“I could not lose weight on my own. I felt I had tried everything and failed. I knew it was time to improve my quality of life,” added Kimbler.
He decided to make an appointment to see Pikeville Medical Center’s (PMC) Bariatric Surgeon Amy Johnson, MD.
Kimbler weighed 343lbs when he met with Dr. Johnson, for the first time. Dr. Johnson made Kimbler feel at ease and discussed all options he had regarding his weight.
“I knew with proper guidance his life and health could improve,” said Dr. Johnson.
Johnson says he was the perfect candidate for a gastric sleeve procedure. Since Kimbler’s procedure he has lost 140 lbs. and his life and health have changed for the better.
“Weight loss surgery is a lot of work and some days felt like an uphill battle, but in the end it was well worth it,” said Kimbler.
He says his only regret is not doing it sooner.
Since surgery, Kimbler no longer faces obesity, high blood pressure, sleep apnea or back pain.
“I feel so much better. I no longer have medical problems and I am doing things I was never able to do,” Kimbler added.
Prior to surgery, Kimbler says he never realized everything he was missing.
“I am a much healthier person.” Kimbler said.
Kimbler says he had tremendous support from his family.
He wants to encourage anyone who is considering weight loss surgery to do themselves a favor and do it now.
He credits Dr. Johnson and her staff for an amazing experience.
“The staff at the PMC Weight Loss Surgery Center becomes a part of your weight loss journey and provides support through the process,” said Kimbler.
