Pamela Bevins is one of the amazing healthcare heroes at Pikeville Medical Center. She lives with her husband Brian Bevins and their puppy named Henley on Island Creek in Pike County. She loves traveling, going to concerts, and cheering on the Wildcats.
She says her unwavering faith in God comes first, both in and out of the office. He is the way she deals with the fears that accompany COVID-19.
“My siblings and I care for my 80-year-old mother,” stated Bevins. “My biggest fear is taking the virus home to her.”
Bevins has been in the infection control department for the past four years of her 12-year career at PMC. During the crucial moments of the evolving, pandemic, her department was pushed to the forefront of healthcare. They quickly became a vital element in making a difference.
She said, “Our department has seen several changes since March 2020. The entire infection control department has worked fervently to protect the safety and well-being of our staff by creating and implementing our COVID-19 plan.”
One proud moment for Bevins and her department during the days of COVID-19 was being named a PMC Shining Star, a program that recognizes staff who go above and beyond job expectations.
Bevins, named a recent PMC Shining Star, says she understands the frustrations that accompany the virus. She encourages everyone to do their part and mask up for the people they love and for themselves.
“It has been a trying year for all of us,” she said. “We need to come together to help stop the spread of this virus. Every life lost is one too many. Wearing a mask and social distancing could save lives and it is worth it.”
