Pikeville Medical Center (PMC) Infectious Disease Physician and frontline Healthcare Hero, Muhannad Antoun, MD has been instrumental in treating patients at PMC who have been diagnosed with COVID-19.
As an infectious disease physician specialist, Dr. Antoun provides care for intensive care patients and clinic patients.
Dr. Antoun says that when the world was faced with this new virus he began to focus, with caution, on how to care for patients when there was no cure in sight.
“It was challenging to be able to help these patients and provide the care they required.” Dr. Antoun said.
He and his team have worked countless hours to overcome many challenges.
When asked how the community can help during this pandemic, he advised that everyone follow these simple steps:
- Follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Pike County Health Department, and World Health Organization
- Practice social distancing, wash your hands (twice as often, twice as long), and wear a mask
- Please protect those who are vulnerable and ALWAYS protect everyone around you, including yourself
“It is time to support each other,” said Dr. Antoun. “Our enemy is invisible, and the challenges are tremendous, but listening, following the correct guidelines, and making the right choices should strengthen us and help us overcome this virus.”
Dr. Antoun is married to Layal Alabdallah and together they have one son, Maxim. They are members of Saint Basil Church. The family shares many interests, but nothing is more important than their family time.
