Pikeville Medical Center Emergency Department

Pikeville Medical Center’s (PMC) Emergency Department (ED) is the region’s leading provider of advanced emergency care. PMC is uniquely equipped to deliver specialized, life-saving care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our emergency department is located at our main campus at 911 Bypass Road, Building A.

Urgent Care vs. Emergent Care

Understanding the difference between urgent care and emergency care can help ensure you receive the right treatment at the right time.

  • Urgent Care is ideal for non-life-threatening conditions that require prompt attention, such as minor injuries, cold and flu symptoms, or mild infections.
  • Emergency Care is is for more serious injuries/conditions and for severe or life-threatening conditions, such as chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe injuries, or signs of a stroke.

Choosing urgent care when appropriate can save time and reduce costs, allowing the emergency department to focus on critical cases.

Urgent Care vs Emergent Care

PMC has two Urgent Care locations that are open from 8am-8pm, 7 Days  A Week for non-life-threatening conditions.

PLEASE NOTE: APPOINTMENTS ARE NOT NECESSARY FOR URGENT CARE SERVICES
