Pikeville Medical Center (PMC) is proud to be home to one of the most advanced Heart and Vascular Institutes in the region. Eastern Kentucky has a high rate of heart disease and vascular conditions. It is extremely important to have a dedicated and highly skilled team caring for patients facing these issues.
The PMC Heart and Vascular Institute is led by an experienced team of highly trained, dedicated physicians who utilize state-of-the-art equipment and advanced technology to provide high quality cardiology care. Alongside general cardiology, the providers at PMC specialize in cardiothoracic surgery, electrophysiology, interventional cardiology, invasive cardiology, and vascular/endovascular surgery.
In the United States, vascular disease is one of the leading causes of death, usually going unnoticed until a catastrophic event occurs, such as the rupturing of an aneurysm or a stroke. In the realm of vascular and endovascular surgery, PMC has two vascular/endovascular surgeons leading a skilled team that treats carotid artery disease, aneurysm repair, peripheral vascular disease, venous disease, deep venous thrombosis, and dialysis access/maintenance and more.
Al Addasi, MD, and Peter Armstrong, MD, FACS are Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery in General Surgery and Vascular Surgery. Together, have many years of experience treating patients facing vascular issues. Drs. Addasi and Armstrong, along with their nurse practitioners, see patients at the PMC Heart and Vascular Institute located just behind the Emergency Department on the main hospital campus.
