Many people in the region suffer from a heart condition that causes an irregular heartbeat, called arrhythmia. Pikeville Medical Center (PMC) offers two Cardiac Electrophysiologists (EPs), sometimes referred to as “electricians of the heart,” who specialize in abnormal heart rhythms.
PMC’s Heart and Vascular Institute EP team of Chase Reynolds, MD, and Michael Antimisiaris, MD, work to bring the most advanced technology and care to the medical center to treat patients. Dr. Reynolds is the Director of the Electrophysiology Lab and Dr. Antimisiaris is the Medical Director of the Heart and Vascular Institute. Dr. Antimisiaris is considered by many to be a pioneer in the field of electrophysiology, having worked alongside physicians to develop some of the first procedures in EP. He joined the PMC team of physicians in 2009 as the medical center’s first electrophysiologist. Dr. Antimisiaris is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology.
Dr. Reynolds returned to his hometown of Pikeville to join the PMC Electrophysiology team in 2014.
Dr. Reynolds is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology, Cardiovascular Disease, and Internal Medicine. Both physicians specialize in the electrical system of the heart, treatment of atrial fibrillation (irregular heartbeat), pacemaker and defibrillator implantations, cardioversions and ablations and are committed to providing high quality care for their patients.
PMC’s Heart and Vascular Institute is staffed by many highly trained and highly skilled providers, advanced practice registered nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and support staff. In addition to electrophysiology (EP), the Heart and Vascular Institute offers services in Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Interventional Cardiology, Invasive Cardiology and Vascular/Endovascular Surgery, which are all specialized fields of heart care.
