When babies are born early or require medical treatment at birth, Pikeville Medical Center (PMC) is equipped to begin specialized care within seconds of birth. PMC is proud to have two
neonatologists leading a highly skilled team with access to state-of-the-art equipment.
PMC has the only Level II Advanced Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in the region and offers round-the-clock care for newborns born as early as 28 weeks who require intensive nursing and medical care.
The growing number of newborns in the region who require specialized care at birth prompted PMC to expand the NICU, which doubled in size in early 2020. This expansion allowed PMC to provide advanced care to more of its youngest and most vulnerable patients.
