The drive from Martin County to Pikeville Medical Center (PMC) gives PMC Healthcare Hero, Hospitalist, and Internal Medicine Physician, Megan Copley, DO an opportunity to think about the many people in her life. Her soccer-playing 5-year-old (Ronan), Mickey Mouse loving 2-year-old (Lucian), her 8th Grade Math Teacher husband, Lee Harris, and the patients she will be caring for all have her attention and concern.
“My personality has always been one of wanting to help people any way I can, especially during the days of COVID-19,” explained Dr. Copley. “This is a new virus and the best way to understand it is to treat patients with it. I’m the typical ‘run towards the fire’ type of person when it comes to offering help.”
She says her patients need to be taken care of, no matter the illness. As long as proper personal protective equipment (PPE) is being used, Dr. Copley says safety is not an issue.
