Pikeville Medical Center (PMC) neurologists treat patients with a variety of medical issues affecting the nervous system, which primarily deals with the brain and spinal cord. Patients experiencing reoccurring migraine headaches, coordination problems, confusion, dizziness and other similar issues often find relief after seeing a neurologist.
PMC has two board certified neurologists. PMC Medical Director of the Primary Stroke Center, Naveed Ahmed, MD is board certified in neurology and stroke medicine by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and also board certified in headache medicine and spinal cord injury medicine.
“I thoroughly enjoy treating the people of this region,” said Dr. Ahmed. “Pikeville has been my home for many years, and I consider it an honor to work at PMC and be able to improve the lives of my patients.”
Ryan Owens, MD, recently returned to his Floyd County home to provide neurology care at the PMC Prestonsburg Primary and Urgent Care Clinic. Dr. Owens is board certified in both psychiatry and neurology and regularly treats patents for seizures, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease.
“I was excited to return home and have the opportunity to give back to the community that has given me so much,” explained Dr. Owens.
Dr. Ahmed and Dr. Owens provide advanced specialty care on the 8th floor of the Clinic Building and in several other convenient locations. Dr. Ahmed travels throughout the service area to save patients travel time and money. He not only sees patients in the PMC Clinic Building on the 8th floor, but also in the Whitesburg Specialty Clinic, Prestonsburg Specialty Clinic and the South Williamson Primary and Specialty Care Clinic.
