Pikeville Medical Center (PMC) held a ribbon-cutting, Sept. 23, for the new Primary Care and Urgent Care Clinic located in Prestonsburg on South Lake Drive. This investment is intended to better serve the health care needs of Floyd County. This will be the first urgent care endeavor for the hospital.
“I want to thank Mayor Stapleton and the Prestonsburg City Council for welcoming us to the area. We are very proud to be here in Prestonsburg,” said PMC CEO and Vice-President of the Board of Directors, Donovan Blackburn. “Our commitment to further advance health care in the city of Prestonsburg highlights the continued growth of the hospital and our investment in taking care of the people of this community.”
PMC is expanding the footprint of the medical center throughout the region, making quality, specialized care more accessible.
“I cannot explain to you the amount of time and effort that PMC has put into making this a reality for Floyd County, in such a short amount of time,” said Mayor Stapleton. “The City of Prestonsburg thanks you and I thank you.”
The event was well attended by the community with more than 150 people coming out to enjoy a free cookout-style lunch and listen to remarks made by Blackburn, PMC Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer/Assistant CEO Dr. Aaron Crum, Senator Philip Wheeler, State Representative Ashley Tackett Lafferty, Mayor Les Stapleton and Floyd County Judge Executive Robbie Williams.
“We want to welcome PMC to Floyd County,” said Williams. “For years we have had a long-standing relationship with the hospital, due to the health care they provide to the region. We hope to strengthen our bond with this new location and continue growing this area.”
The new clinic features a modern aesthetic with ample parking. A well-trained clinical and clerical staff have been assembled to take care of patients.
