PMC Sleep Center Offers New Services and Moves into a New Larger Location

Pikeville Medical Center’s (PMC) Sleep Center recently moved to its new location on the 10th floor of PMC’s May Tower at the main hospital. The move was initiated to accommodate the growing demand of patients.

The new location was met with much excitement from staff, patients and physicians.

“The new location will allow us to expand our sleep services and accommodate the number of patients suffering from sleep disorders,” said PMC Sleep Center Supervisor, Todd Werner.

PMC’s Sleep Services assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of adult patients with sleep disorders.

PMC’s Sleep Center is under the direction of R.V. Mettu, MD, who is board certified in adult sleep medicine through the American Board of Sleep Medicine (ASM).

The Sleep Center is fully accredited through the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.

Sleep disorders affect the quality of life and when untreated can cause hypertension, diabetes, stroke, cardiac complications and possibly death.

“The region has a significant number of patients suffering from sleep disorders,” said Dr. Mettu.

He says people who think they may suffer from sleep disorders need to seek treatment.

“Our new center will offer people the ability to receive care for sleep disorders without having to travel,” added Dr. Mettu.

Sleep disorders are treatable through different modalities that will be determined by the sleep physician.

The new convenient location provides and treats a wide array of sleep disorders including obstructive sleep apnea, narcolepsy, insomnia and restless leg syndrome.

Also, this new location will allow PMC’s Sleep Center to offer new services for patients including direct referrals.

“If you think you have a sleep disorder, you can call us to schedule an appointment to have an examination,” said Werner.

Dr. Mettu says PMC is committed to looking for ways to improve the lives of patients who suffer from sleep disorders.

The new location offers patients and their families’ additional features on PMC’s Main Campus. They now can take advantage of Starbucks, The Corner Market and the Top of the Tower Restaurant when they visit the hospital.
